Physical Performance Testing.

With Sharp testing and profiling systems, athletes can put their physical performance to the test and compare themselves against benchmarks and thousands of data-sets from elite, world-class and recreational settings.

From improving a golfer’s carry distance, to a sprinter’s acceleration or a runner’s 5km personal best, we use our extensive database to identify the potential limiting factors, and guide the path to help an athlete or team achieve their performance goals.

Objective data is used to analyse relative strengths and weaknesses, and provide recommendations to an athlete or team, for specific training they can benefit from.

Testing

  • Countermovement, Squat and Loaded Jump profiles can guide whether an athlete requires concentric / eccentric, and ballistic / max strength training to improve their lower body strength and speed.

Pogo Hop assessments indicate reactive strength capabilities, with Flight and Contact times analyses to develop specific plyometric programmes.

Single Leg Jump assessments can identify any specific imbalances and inform injury-risk mitigation, based on the latest scientific research.

Run-Specific Isometric assessments are used to help identify an athlete’s capability to produce high forces through the hip and ankle at top speed, which allows us to design specific strength programmes to develop maximum speed.

  • Simple, effective movement screens are used to identify potentially weak or tight areas, and design specific mobility interventions which allow an athlete to move more effectively, with improved speed, fluidity and strength.

  • StatSports GPS Systems are used to identify an individual’s maximum speed, which is a key performance factor, crucial in game-breaking situations.

Laser Timing Systems are also used to analyse acceleration and maximum speed performance, providing immediate performance feedback and driving intent.

  • Simple, effective assessments are performed on a bike, treadmill, track or trail, to identify an athlete’s fitness profile, and help guide specific conditioning methods which they need to produce and consistently repeat high-intensity performances. A fast athlete who isn’t fit will require a completely different intervention to a fit athlete who isn’t fast.

Heart Rate and Blood Lactate data can also be used to provide specific feedback, predict race performance, and identify specific performance solutions.

Strength and Conditioning Coaching.

S&C training is available for individuals and teams, at a number of locations throughout the north of England.

Based on your requirements and goals, we’ll work together on the pitch, track and gym towards specific training targets. We’ll use objective, precise data to track progress, and continually adapt and evolve the programme in accordance with the consistent long term development of an athlete or team.

Sessions typically last 45 – 90 minutes, and can be purchased as both short and long-term programmes. Programmes run on either an in-person or semi-remote basis, with regular check ins and touch points throughout programme duration.

Enquire below and we’ll come up with a bespoke package to help you achieve your performance goal.

Consultancy

I’ve previously delivered CPD and education sessions to staff at Aston Villa FC, British Cycling, GB Badminton, and the NFL Academy in Loughborough, plus delivering guest talks at Sheffield Hallam University, Manchester Metropolitan University and University Academy 92.

Themed sessions are built around answering a specific performance question which an organisation may have, and I’ll lean on case studies, previously collected data and an extensive network of some of the UK’s leading practitioners to present meaningful solutions to performance problems, and provide an organisation with immediate take-away’s to improve performance.

I’m currently seeking more opportunities to consult and deliver talks on a variety of topics of interest, and I’m willing to travel to do this. I love seeing how other high-performance environments work, and this forms a key part of my own personal development, and allows me to continue delivering a continually better service to the athletes and coaches I work with.
